Jumpstart's Read for the Record®
Jumpstart is a national early education organization that is leveling the playing field so that all children are ready for kindergarten. We recruit volunteers and partner with preschools in under-resourced communities to help children develop the language and literacy skills they need to set them on a path for academic and lifelong success.
Jumpstart’s Read for the Record® is a national campaign that was launched over a decade ago to address the educational inequities that leave too many children unprepared for kindergarten. On Thursday, October 27, 2016, children and adults will gather to learn, laugh, and read this year's campaign book, The Bear Ate Your Sandwich by Julia Sarcone-Roach, as part of the world’s largest shared reading experience. Read for the Record inspires adults to read with children, spurs policymakers and organizations to take action towards transformative change in early education, and puts books in the hands of more children across the country.
Join us on October 27, 2016 and read The Bear Ate Your Sandwich, a classic tale of a bear’s epic journey and the mystery surrounding one delicious sandwich!
